What is Aayirathil Oruvan about?

Image
Image via Wikipedia Ever since its launch, Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus Aayirathil Oruvan has been a subject of speculation. The stakeholders have done a good job of keeping the story concealed and speculation alive for the last 3 years. However, two things become apparent from this video Selvaraghavan ‘ On Aayirathil Oruvan ’. A lot of computer graphic (CG) work is involved and the movie is in an entirely different genre. This leaves us still guessing about the story of the movie. Is it a science fiction movie like Avatar or like Indiana Jones? As a side note, it will be interesting to know what caused the split between Selvaraghavan and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Related articles by Zemanta 5 Short Sci-fi Art Videos (synaptify.com)

Chennai International Film Festival – CIFF

Image
Image via Wikipedia It is impossible to be enthused over a film festival (CIFF) that lists Ayan , Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru and Pokkisham as finalists. While the rest are unabashedly commercial, Cheran ’s Pokkisham is a pretentious and a self-indulgent film, similar to Kamal’s Dasavatharam . How about you, are you enthused? Telangana:Why are some Telugus agitated over Tamilians?

Image
Image by lulazzo [non vede, non sente, non parla] via Flickr If like me you are wondering how are Tamilians involved in the Telangana struggle; this news report provides the answer. In Nellore district, agitators, apparently upset at Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s announcement on Telangana, forcibly shut the gates of the Kandaleru reservoir across the Telugu Ganga Canal, from where 2,000 cusecs of water from the Krishna is supplied to Chennai. Separately, an outfit called the Andhra Intellectual Forum gave a call to detain all Chennai-bound trains. If this attitude develops then very soon we will have Central Minister's for each state and doubtless anarchy will follow.

Bifurcation is catching

Image
Now calls to bifurcate Tamil Nadu: Following the Union Government announcement of the formation of the Telengana state, the demand to bifurcate Tamil Nadu into north and south for “better administrative purposes’’ gained momentum.

Telengana: A Pandora’s Box

Image
Wonder whether the Congress Party imagined this outcome . With Centre agreeing to the creation of a separate Telengana state, its hands are full with demands of at least nine other new states, including Mithilanchal in Bihar, Coorg in Karnataka and Saurashtra in Gujarat. Mind you, the demands for nine more states are pending for sometime and sure to become more vocal. Related articles by Zemanta India Faces Backlash Over a New State (nytimes.com)
